CEA Update & Meeting Location Change Notice

Dear CEA Member,

Police Commissioner Bratton has accepted the CEA’s invitation to address the general membership and has offered Police Headquarters as a meeting location. Please note, our next monthly meeting, March 5th at 10:00 a.m., will be held in the Auditorium of One Police Plaza and NOT at Antuns (as originally planned).

Some other updates:

Scholarships: There will be High School and College Scholarships offered this year.

Our High School Scholarship winners will be determined by examination results from a test given on May 10, 2014 for current 8th Grade children and grandchildren of active CEA members. Awards in the amount of $1,000 and $500 will be given to winners at our June membership meeting. The exam will be given at St. Stanislaus school in Brooklyn – to reserve a seat for your child e-mail Ada Resnick at aresnick@nypdcea.com.

Our College Scholarship winners are determined by SAT score - with one additional winner determined by random drawing at our June membership meeting. To be considered, an entrant must be a child of an active CEA and be a High School Senior entering a degree seeking program. Awards are in the amounts of $2,000 to $2,500. To enter your child forward a copy of their SAT results to the CEA office by June 1, 2014.

LANDMARK APPROVAL

I am happy to report approval by the Landmark Preservation Committee of our plans to renovate our future office space at 40 Peck Slip, Manhattan. This is the last pre-construction hurdle to the office space we purchased over a year ago that will serve as the permanent location of the LBA, CEA and SOC.
