NYPD CEA Statement in Response to The Journal News Release of Gun License Holders

NYPD Captains Endowment Association Statement in Response to The Journal News Release of Gun License Holders name, address and mapped "online" location of handgun license holders.

"It is a disgrace that a news organization would map out and identify the name and residence of licensed handgun holders, many of whom are retired police officers, and at the same time not use the same vigor to identify criminals who have been arrested for illegal gun possession and pose an immediate danger to our communities."

NYPD Police Unions Establish Disaster Relief Fund - PRESS RELEASE

Five New York City Police Department Police Unions Establish Disaster Relief Fund to provide immediate assistance to Police Officers directly affected by the devastation of Hurricane Sandy.

The goal of the organization is to provide monetary and grant relief for uniformed members of the New York City Police Department and Police Officers in the State of New York that have suffered economic loss as a result of a catastrophic disaster.

Currently, in excess of 1,500 members of the New York City Police Department have been directly affected by Hurricane Sandy. Like many members of our community these officers have lost their homes, automobiles, clothes and are displaced. The difference between members of the NYPD and others directly affected is that our members still have to go to work to protect our City and leave their families many times to fend for themselves. Immediate assistance is required for all families directly affected by this disaster. The five police unions of the NYPD have established a fund to provide immediate assistance to New York Police Officers.

Contributions can be made to:

New York Police Disaster Relief Fund
233 Broadway, Suite 1801
New York, NY 10279

Member police unions are:
Patrolmen's Benevolent Association - Patrick J. Lynch, president
Detectives Endowment Association - Michael Palladino, president
Sergeants Benevolent Association - C Ed Mullins, president
Lieutenants Benevolent Association - Louis Turco, president
Captains Endowment Association - Roy T. Richter, president
